I ass privileged to be invited to the Royal Institution Christmas Faaraday lectures last night.
Professor Chris Bishop kept a theatre full of children entertained on the complexities and problems of teaching a computer the differences between a cat and a dog.

The Faraday lectures are a true Christmas tradition which stretch back more than 150 years. At the end Chris told the audience it was watching the lectures on television when he was young which inspired him to become a scientist. Now he is doing a job which he loves and you can’t ask for much more than that.
And Baroness Susan Greenfield, director of the RI, told the audience it was their generation which would take computer intelligence forward from the fairly basic levels it has reached so far.
